Drupal 5.6 and Drupal6 RC2 Fresh Out

Just wanted to point out that two Drupal has released Version 5.6 and the Release Candidate 2 for Drupal 6!

Freely Renewable Released using Drupal 5.5

Freely Renewable Logo

Just helped Conscious Reggae launch a Drupal-powered website called Freely Renewable.

It's all about freely renewable energy sources, promoting them, talking about them, using them, getting the word out about them, and so on with them.

So here it is from the top...

From Small World Servers

Small World Servers welcomes Freely Renewable to the shared hosting community!

Freely Renewable is all about renewable energy, free energy, pure energy systems and other such goodness.

The site will become a meta-repository for web knowledge about wind, solar, hydro and other renewable energies. All the content will be licensed to the General Public with a proper Public Domain license.

Visit Freely Renewable.

Drigg Module for Making Drupal like Digg!

I came across the website with the code for the Drigg module for Drupal. It makes Drupal work like Digg.

This is something I have been after for quite some time. I came across a few possibilties regarding this, but nothing clear and simple. Now, perhaps the Drigg module is the solution.

Of course, there is always Pligg, but eventually I feel Drupal will integrate it smoothly. For now, I am installing Pligg for Babel Stack.

20-Minute Video on New Features for Drupal 6

This is a fantastic video showing the best (and most) of the new and important features of Drupal 6.

I have already installed and am testing the 6.0 RC1 at unrev.org. It is, indeed, a major update and so much smoother and more fun the work with. Drupal just keeps getting better and better.

mo.neyflo.ws will make money flow for unrev.org

Money Flows Logo

mo.neyflo.ws or money flows is the newest site on the Small World Servers web server and the second in the unrev.org network. unrev.org will be working symbiotik-lee with Conscious Manifestations to make unrev.org's information available online instantly to people worldwide using a few tricks cmanifestations has up her sleeves. Well, for the time being... but soon they will be free for all and indeed people already have inklings and bits, but nobody has put it all together in one place and clearly outlined the technical web information architecture.

Returning to mo.neyflo.ws, a new direction is emerging and unreving has begun. This unreving requires affording a mobile lifestyle, more specifically a 37' Ranger sloop minimalized with renewable energy devices and methods. In order for this to happen money must be flowing.

mo.neyflo.ws is a new implementation of an evolving technique that compromises my online life for the last 5 years. Using evolving methods discovered working throughout the years and first put to use on specific projects to enhance their online exposure - mainly via direct links from search engines thanks to relevant keywords in the content and mark-up - I have discovered/received/stumbled upon ... somewhat of an Web Info Arc.

Combine this with a change in approach to the material the website treats: Instead of researching and reviewing mostly free (as in freedom and as in beer) information on various topics, I am blatantly researching and making available mainly commercial products and information for creating a home business, working on the web, making a living online... all that litejazz - combined with motivational, practical, "spiritual" and scientific information from varied sources via divers medias.

This latter aspect of the operation will, naturally, be the most enjoyable for most publishers, for it doesn't involve weeding through sketchy and seedy sales pitches ;) filled with testimonials and promises of a bright futuro en línea. But we'll trudge through the Scheiße and bring out the real deal for all to see, comment on and ultimately decide for themselves... after becoming better informed.

These projects take time to get started... but the search engine magic is instantaneous. I unpassword-protected the site less than 24 hours ago and look at this. Google has already indexed an article I published only a couple of hours ago! All thanks to Drupal and a few modules.

So now I am expressly releasing publicity info on the many sites in the Conscious Manifestations and unrev.org networks.

Also wanted to eek a shout to Conscious Reggae and Pulp Popcorn. Those are two friends joining on the boat trip to South America in a couple of months. But that is merging off topic...

Drupal 6.0 RC1 Released and Ready for Testing

Drupal has just announced that Release Candidate 1 of Version 6.0 has been released and is available for testing. If you are a Drupaler, grab a copy and install it - play around with it and see if you can help patch some of the remaining bugs. Drupal 6.0 will be yet another significant upgrade to the Drupal CMS.

Some Drupal for Conscious Reggae and Pulp Popcorn

I have been showing a couple of friends how to use Drupal.

They have both started on websites: Conscious Reggae (consciousreggae.org) and Pulp Popcorn (pulppopcorn.com).

Check out their progress and see how they are using Drupal. More to come on these projects and their breakdown in terms of Web Information Architecture and Search Engine Magic.

Transcombouge Site Up for Testing

A very early edition of transcombouge.com is up for testing and setting up Drupal.

I am just going to test it while it's live.

First, I will tweak the the information architecture. Then I'll begin posting more content regarding my world travels.

Small World Servers New Website Uses Drupal 5

The new Small World Servers site is up and uses Drupal.

It is by no means complete, but it is out there.

There is still a great deal of explaining that needs to happen on the site about what really goes on with all of these projects that I am working on.

Three Essential Drupal Modules

I just want to make a quick mention of three Drupal modules that I find absolutely indispensable for any web project:

Pathauto

"The pathauto module automatically generates path aliases for various kinds of content (nodes, categories, users) when no explicit alias is provided by the user."

Poormanscron

"A module which runs the Drupal cron operations without needing the cron application.

For every page view, this module checks to see if the last cron run was more than 1 hour ago (this period is configurable). If so, the cron hooks are executed, and Drupal is happy. These cron hooks fire after all HTML is returned to the browser, so the user who kicks off the cron jobs should not notice any delay."

Tagadelic

"Tagadelic is a small module, without any databases, or configuration, that generates a page with weighted tags. The cool thing is that by merely altering font sizes, these lists suddenly gain a dimension.

Tagadelic offers various ways to add terms and vocabularies in one tag cloud. By using the urls, you can create your own clouds pages.

It also offers a sideblock for each taxonomy tree."

I find these three modules necessary and very helpful. I use all three of them for this site, as well as almost all of the other Drupal sites I have worked on.

Upgraded the Site to Drupal 5.1

I just finished upgrading this site from a Drupal 5 development version to Drupal 5.1.

The upgrade went smoothly. Drupal is an amazing content management system.

Free Language Screenshot and Drupal Mods List

For all the Drupalers out there, Free Language v2 is running Drupal 4.7 and following contributed modules were used to beef it out:

  • aggregator2
  • captcha
  • emailpage
  • google analytics
  • insert_block
  • pathauto (to the max)
  • poormanscron
  • simplenews
  • sitemenu
  • tagadelic

I tried to keep contrib mods to a minimum while still maximizing the site's functionality.

I am going to upgrade to Drupal 5 as soon as I can get some funds together to commission the upgrade of aggregator2 to Drupal 5. Or perhaps someone will decide to just do it!

Here is a screenshot of the Mandarin Chinese Tags Page:

Free Language Screenshot

Once again, the languages currently available on the site are Arabic, Cantonese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish

Free Language v2 Released at Last

Well... Free Language v2 is finally here. You can see the site announcement here.

Man, that was one heck of a project, and it is only getting started! It would never have been possible without Drupal.

Free Language Project v2, the 24-Hour Countdown

Free Language is almost ready. The idea is to launch it on February 1, 2007. That is in about 45 minutes. Counting the 1st itself, 2 hours and 45 minutes. It's get busy time at the Conscious Manifestations Studio.

At any rate, there are going to be lots of podcasts and quality feeds for language learners brought through the site. Ça va s'éclatér.

At the core is a growing list of quality links to language-learning materials.

Eventually, the site will catch up with the times and have user ratings, blogs, comments, forums, chat rooms (maybe) and more of the usual suspects in the Web 2.0 world. People will start to come together as a community.

Should be out in 24 hours...
